Having a workout buddy is EVERYTHING! Don’t get me wrong though, solo workouts are the bomb at times too, but there are 100% more pro’s to having a workout buddy. Having invested time into increasing knowledge and understanding of exercises and planning effective workouts and my confidence (or lack thereof as the case was) was …
This is my current physique. A short while ago, this would have been a depressing picture to me because it demonstrates how hard this journey is and that there is still a long way to go before goals that have been set are achieved. Now however, this picture makes me proud. Now it demonstrates to …
A little over a year ago I couldn’t enter a gym without having major anxiety. It had never really caused an issue for me though as I was always fairly confident and happy with the way my body was or at least was the case up until around one year ago.
It happens to us all, as we get older our bodies change. Mine changed in such a way that I became unhappy with what faced me when looking in the mirror. After spending a while moping and hating, I made up my mind that it was time to do something about it.
Luckily, my partner is a very good personal trainer. After bugging me for basically the entirety of our relationship to go work out with him he was delighted when I finally plucked up the courage and asked him to guide me into the gym. I was also extremely fortunate for the fact that I was able to use the gym when it was closed to the public which definitely had a massive impact on my anxiety.
We are now roughly a year on and my confidence has definitely grown, so much so that I am able to go into the gym without my boyfriend, during normal working hours even into the very male dominated weights section and have an amazing workout. However, I still have my moments of doubt and the anxiety creeps up on me at times when I least expect it.
When I have looked to the internet in the past for reasurrance and guidance all I seem to find is girls and guys that seem uber confident and knowledgable with health and fitness (which is fantastic of course) but I think it may help others to know that not everyone in the gym is 100% comfortable nor do they all know exactly what they are doing and that brings me to the purpose of this blog. My intention is to combat fears and build confidence, both in myself and assiting other with theirs. I aim to build a place of support and to do so I will share my journey with you, the good, the bad and the ugly included.
