Looking for an easy way to stay on top of your fitness over the upcoming festive period, then you’ve come to the right place. 

 

With Halloween all being said and done, we are well on the way to the most indulgent season of all, Christmas. With the busiest time of year fast approaching and high calorie temptation lurking in every direction, it is so easy to let your fitness slip to then have to deal with the looming ‘January Diet’. There is an easy way to make sure you can get your workouts in, even at the busiest time of year.. home workouts.

First things first, you will need a decent television like a HD Television Panasonic, it looks sleek, stylish with a bright and colourful display – that is literally all the equipment you will need. Winner. No need to leave the house, fight with traffic, make your way to the gym etc. saving so much valuable time at this hectic period.

However, with all the distractions at home and the never-shrinking Christmas to do list, there are a few things you can do to help make sure your home workouts are as successful as possible.

  1. Dedicate time slots;

    Whether its first thing in the morning, last thing at night or in the middle of the day. Make sure you try and allocate a specific time to doing your home workouts and stick to it otherwise, you will keep putting it off and putting off and next thing you know you’re signing up to slimming world in January.

  2. Workout with a partner;

    Just to give you that extra bit of motivation and hold yourself accountable. In my experience, people find it much easier to bail on their own commitments than they do bailing on someone else. So, get yourself a home workout buddy and push each other! Plus, it always makes it more enjoyable, if not a tad competitive and who doesn’t love a bit of friendly competition?!

  3. Plan workouts in advance;

    Youtube (which can be accessed on most TV’s now) is a GREAT source of home workout guides and best of all, at a time of year where we spend money like it’s going out of fashion, they’re free. That being said, Youtube is also a great way to waste time. One minute you are looking for a great home workout fast forward 5 hours and your watching a tutorial about how to speak to giraffes! Set up a playlist so you can get going at the touch of a button, no distractions. which leads nicely to point 4…

  4. Minimise distractions;

    Don’t try to multitask. Set your sole focus to working out even if its only for 30 minutes. DOn’t put something in the oven which is going to require attention, workout whilst the kids are at school or in a club, turn your phone off. Whatever it is that steals your attention, block it out.

  5. DON’T SIT ON THE SOFA!

    We all know that as soon as our butts hit that sofa it swallows us whole and it is game over. Stay on your feet, let the sofa be your reward after successfully completing your at home workout!

 

It’s as easy as that folks. Whilst getting to the gym is largely preferred by many, sometimes it just isn’t feasible and in this case, an at home workout is more beneficial than simply skipping exercise altogether.
