Year in Review | Fitness & Lifestyle Goals for 2018

What a year 2017 has been hey! From what I can see on the world of Facebook & instagram, it seems the majority of us have had a pretty fabulous 12 months! Even on Twitter, which seems to be the negative platform mostly used for passive aggressive comments and calling people out, there seems to have been a bit of shift in attitude with so many people sharing their top three achievements following on from a tweet by Adam J. Kurtz.

You know it has been a cracking year when you struggle to limit yourself to your top three achievements! This really was a struggle so, here are my top three achievements that made my heart feel the warmest and sort of encompass a multitude of other achievements (what a catchy caption hey!):

  1. Contour Allure now has over 2,000 viewers per month and that absolutely blows my mind! Thank you to all of you who flock to read my content, it warms my heart.
  2. Throughout the year, I have met some of the most amazing, inspiring people who I am now proud to call friends. They are all over my Instagram if you want to go see their pretty faces.
  3. Chris & I have been fortunate to travel to some crazy exciting places as well as moving into our dreamy new home – its been a pretty big year for us all around.
Here are some of your favorite moments of my 2017

2017 has definitely been THE BEST year of my life to date, including the year we lived in Canada (on a side note; let me know in the comment section if you want to hear more about this, I’ve drafted a few posts about moving abroad/travelling long term).

You will have no doubt seen on my social media and throughout the blog that 2017 has taken me on some pretty exciting adventures and brought some pretty spectacular people to my life.

Love my sofa launch

I hope 2018 brings us all even more happiness, love and fun than 2017 gifted us with.

That being said, the opportunity’s aren’t going to make themselves so let’s get down to business.

Last year I wrote a blog about making resolutions in a way that will increase your chances of succeeding with them and it even had a cute little planner you can download – it might be a good idea to review this blog before making your plans for 2018.

Fitness Goals:

The upper part of my legs get loooots of love, the lower legs though is a different story and it definitely shows. Time to grow the calf muscles and disperse with the cankle situation I have going on at the minute. As well as my usual weight training program, I will be adding in lots of plyometric, jumping movements to make sure the calf muscles are firing up as much as possible.

Not a calf muscle in sight 👀

2. Increase overall fitness levels.

Weight training is my jam but towards the end of this year, I noticed that my overall, general fitness levels were definitely flagging and although I have already taken steps to begin to combat this, in the forthcoming year, this will become more of a priority and will work almost simultaneously with the above goal. Lots of plyometric, HIIT, Sprint type sessions to get the heart rate up, get the lungs working and get in tune with my body.

3. Become an Olympic Gymnast…

Wouldn’t that be a dream come true! Obviously, I’m realistic enough to know that the chances of that happening are slim to none in reality but that was always my dream and it went from being a dream to having absolutely no place in my life. I took a couple of classes this year to test the waters and the passion is still there. It’s important to nurture passions so, in 2018 I want to find a gymnastics class where I feel comfortable and can work towards perhaps competing in some recreational adult competitions?

Back bending dreams

Life Goals:

1. Qualify as a Personal Trainer.

With Chris opening up a gym, it just makes sense. I’m already qualified to run classes and other various sporting activities, I have taken a number of my friends to the gym and taught them how to use things/do exercises, I run this fitness based blog and honestly, I just love working out and trying new exercises (me, 3 years ago can’t believe I just said that!) so, watch this space, Coach Missy is on the way!

2. Level up on my photography game

Ask literally any one of my family members; photography has always been something I’ve been infatuated with and in being so, infuriated everyone around me with. As a little Christmas treat to myself, I have purchased a Sony A5000 which I intend to master and capture some unreal pictures with. On that note, perhaps understanding photography composition etc will reduce the anger levels of people around me when I’m trying to take pictures? but then again, perhaps not! If any body has any photography class recommendations please share!

Pretty little precious

3. Travel More.

2017 was kind enough to allow me to travel to 3 different destinations abroad as well as a number of places in the UK. Traveling is at the very top of mine and Chris’ list, starting with America – the only question is – LA? New York? San Franciso? Chicago? Vegas? SO MANY OPTIONS!

The Ultimate Goal for 2018:

The one goal that sticks out above the rest for me though, is you guys. I am beyond humbled that so many of you stop by each month and I intend to continue to provide interesting, useful content for you. As ever, if there is anything in particular you would like me to discuss you can either let me know in the comments below or contact me via social media; @ContourAllure.

The Final Word for 2017…

In my opinion, there is no better way to close the year than by saying thank you. I just want to say a HUGE thank you to every darling person that contributed to my fabulous 2017. I will be forever grateful for every moment. The highs and the lows. Thankfully, a lot more highs than lows.

So, on the final note for 2017.. The Thank You’s
